BIO

Tate Rockwell Lithgow was born and raised in Los Angeles, California in a town called Burbank. From a young age, he was inspired by the film studios his neighborhood housed, particularly the sets and props that would create new realities. With an aim to craft realities of his own, Tate creates sculptures and installations with wood, metal, and various fibers. His work gives form to psychological and imaginary worlds.

Tate completed an art intensive program at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in 2015, then went on to study painting and printmaking at San Francisco State University. He later studied wood and metal working at the University of New Mexico, where he graduated with a BFA in 2023. Tate’s work has been included in a handful of group shows in New Mexico.

Tate now works in the film industry in New Mexico and continues his art practice out of his home studio in Albuquerque.
